The Studio

Ahimsa studio is based at Containerville in Hackney. It’s a very cool creative enterprise hub that uses recycled shipping containers as studio and office spaces. It’s a really diverse space with so many types of start ups and entrepreneurs, and best of all, the doors to Ahimsa studio open onto the Regents canal so as folks are strolling along the canal, they may stumble upon this cute little creative healing space.

It’s a blank canvas at the moment, as you can see in the photos. Doors open to the public on 8 August 2026 by which time it will be stunningly decorated in hand painted designs and up cycled furniture, transforming it into a cosy den.

The studio is ground floor and has a ramp providing access up to the front door. There is currently a step to access the studio though, and part of the crowdfunding will go towards making sure the space becomes fully wheelchair accessible.

At the front door there will be a constant flow of free herbal tea and a place to park your peaches and ground into the present moment. The studio walls will be filled with Art, the air filled with essential oils and the sound of harmonic frequencies from singing bowls, hand pans and drums.

The studio will be divided into zones for relaxation, creative activities and space for being social. The relaxation zone has a bed and blankets for reiki, mats, blocks and bolsters for yoga and singing bowls for nada yoga and sound healing. The creative and social zones have tables and chairs to make creative work in an open and optionally social format. All tools, equipment and materials are provided and sourced ethically, second hand, or recycled.

Ahimsa Studio is part of the wider Containerville community, over 200 up‑cycled shipping containers between Corbridge Crescent and Emma Street, just behind Hackney Road. You can read more about the site itself on the Containerville website.
